How Sherewater Jewellery came to be..

Who are Sherewater Jewellery?

Sherewater Jewellery is a small artisan jewellery making enterprise specialising in handmade jewellery with a difference.

This is jewellery that is colourful and fun – ‘young at heart’ and inspired from around the world.  From American Wraps to Japanese Kumihimo bracelets, necklaces and anklets using the  techniques of Macramé, Kumihimo, knotting and beading, you will find a lot of our creations are unique and are designed in-house (literally) by either Louise or me , however we do find inspiration in the fashion trends online and around us, as we try to keep our lines up-to-date, seasonal and relevant.

We call ourselves artisans because the jewellery making process has now become a ‘labour of love’ with each piece not being ready to be worn unless it reaches the highest of standards that we set to ensure that only the best is good enough to be sold.  As a start-up business we are still learning on the job, but we hope that you will find something here that will resonate with you as much as it has with us.

We believe in the creation of fun, colourful, everyday jewellery, handmade in the UK, using quality materials.

Meet The Team

Ros Owner/ Designer
LouiseOwner / Designer

Sherewater Jewellery comprises a two-women team, Ros and Louise – close friends and part-time Mums.

We work from a small studio room at home.

Each of us has a different set of skills that complement each other.  We are both avid travellers and keen crafters, gardeners and dog walkers.

So beautifully made and utterly different. I simply love my new bracelet. Thank you!

Our Ethos

Louise and I have a number of charities close to our heart so for every item sold you can be sure we will donate £1.00 to one of two small charities that Sherewater is currently supporting:

Mustard Seed Autism Trust in Farnborough
REAN, a dog rescue charity based in Norfolk and Romania

We strive to keep our jewellery environmentally friendly by avoiding plastic beads and charms, focusing on natural materials such as gemstones, glass and crystal. Please be aware that some fibres are man-made. Most of our ranges are naturally vegan and a small number of leather bracelets will be clearly marked using leather sourced from our UK based small suppliers.

Do not put your jewellery on until AFTER you have dressed and applied any cosmetics, hairspray, perfume, lotions and other chemicals. These can dull and even harm your jewellery.

Always put your elastic bracelet on the right way. This is one of the main factors in bracelets that don’t last. Never put on your bracelet by stretching it over your hand. As much as possible, roll it over your hand without excessive pulling.

Remove jewellery before doing household chores, especially when washing dishes. Remember, many household cleaners contain bleach or other harsh chemicals that are harmful to jewellery.

Also, do not wear your jewellery swimming or in the shower. Avoid wearing it around chlorinated pools and hot tubs, salt water, mineral springs and suntan lotion.

Wipe them gently with a soft, lint-free cloth before putting them away. Do not store semi-precious gemstones in direct sunlight but away in a box or soft bag.

How to measure for your bracelet..

Ordering bracelets is much easier if you know your correct wrist size.  When you order a bracelet from us, we want it to fit you properly.

Use a normal tape measure that is soft and flexible measure around your wrist just below the base of your hand or where you want to wear the bracelet. (see photo).

Make the wrap as snug as you can without depressing the skin or cutting off your circulation. Ensure that you start at ‘0’ which may not necessarily lie at the end of the tape, so check this first.  If necessary, you can also use a piece of string and measure your findings on a ruler.

Then in order to ensure a comfortable fit without pinching or movement restrictions you add a few cm more:

For a snug fit add 1.0 cm;  For a comfortable fit add 2.0 cm to 2.5 cm; For a loose fit add 3.0 cm.

Then choose the size option in which your wrist size fits.

If you are unsure please say so in the comments box, give your exact wrist size and we will happily adjust accordingly for you.

How to measure for anklet..

Take your tape measure and measure round your ankle above the ankle bone.  This is your ankle size.  You then need to add 1.0 – 1.5 cm onto that for a comfortable fit.  As all our anklets are extendable for personal flexibility you need to decide on whether you are small (20 cm to 23 cm), medium (23 cm to 25 cm) or large (25.5 to 28 cm).  Remember there are two ways to wear your anklet: either above or below your ankle bone, so below the bone will mean a longer fit.
